Setting up Exchange on Android

In this article, you’ll learn how to set up your new Microsoft Exchange 2019 account in the Gmail app on an Android device. This is explained using the Samsung GALAXY S10 running Android 11 as an example. Please note that the menu options may differ on other Android models.

Automatic configuration:

  1. Open the Gmail app.
  2. Tap the icon with the three horizontal lines in the top-left corner.
  3. Select ‘Settings’.
  4. Tap ‘Add account’.
  5. Select ‘Exchange and Office 365’.
  6. Enter your email address and tap ‘Next’.
  7. Enter your password and tap ‘Next’ again.
  8. Wait whilst the account details are retrieved.
  9. Tap ‘Done’.

Manual configuration: If the automatic setup fails, set up the account manually:

  1. Follow steps 1 to 6 of the automatic configuration.
  2. Select ‘Set up manually’.
  3. Enter your password.
  4. Make sure your email address is entered in the ‘Domain\Username’ field.
  5. Enter the server ‘exchange2019.centron.eu’ in the ‘Server’ field.
  6. Ensure that port 443 is entered in the ‘Port’ field and that ‘SSL’ is selected as the security type.
  7. Tap ‘Next’.
  8. Wait whilst the account details are retrieved.
  9. Tap ‘Done’.

Help with problems: If manual setup also fails, check whether there is an Autodiscover record in your domain’s DNS settings. Please note that it takes some time for changes to take effect after creating a new domain or making changes to the DNS settings. For further information, please see the article ‘Checking your domain’s Autodiscover settings’.
