Setting up Exchange in Outlook (MS 365)

In this article, you will learn how to set up Microsoft Exchange 2019 in Outlook for Microsoft 365. If you are using Microsoft Exchange 2019, your account will be automatically recognised and set up in Outlook for Microsoft 365. You will also find solutions to any problems you may encounter at the end of the article.

Prerequisites

  • An active Microsoft Exchange 2019 account.
  • An email address created in your Microsoft Exchange 2019 account.
  • Office 365 downloaded and installed on your computer.
  • An Autodiscover record in your domain’s DNS settings.

Please note: A Outlook Configurator is no longer required for Microsoft Exchange 2019. When using Microsoft Exchange 2019 with centron email accounts, automatic detection and setup take place via Autodiscover.

Configuration of Outlook for Microsoft 365

  • Open Outlook for Microsoft 365.
  • The first time you use the programme after installation, the ‘Select Profile’ window will appear. Confirm the automatically created profile by clicking OK.
  • If no profile name appears, enter the desired profile name and click OK.

Notes

  • To use an additional Microsoft Exchange account, you need to create a new profile.
  • To create a new profile, open the Control Panel, select ‘Small icons’ and then ‘Email (Microsoft Outlook)’.
  • Enter your email address for the new Microsoft Exchange 2019 account and follow the remaining steps to set up the account manually.

Setting up an additional account in Outlook for Microsoft 365

  • Open Outlook for Microsoft 365.
  • Select ‘File’ > ‘Information’ > ‘+ Add account’.
  • Enter the email address for your new Microsoft Exchange 2019 account and follow the remaining steps to set up the account manually.

Problem-solving

  • If the automatic setup of the Microsoft Exchange 2019 account fails, check whether there is an Autodiscover entry in your domain’s DNS settings.
  • If you encounter problems despite having a correct Autodiscover entry, bear in mind that DNS settings take time to update.
