Setting up Exchange in Outlook 2016
This article explains how to set up your new Microsoft Exchange 2019 account in Outlook 2016. Microsoft Exchange 2019 accounts are automatically recognised and set up in Outlook 2016. The article also provides solutions to any problems that may arise.
Prerequisites:
- You have created a new email address for your Microsoft Exchange 2019 account.
- Microsoft Outlook 2016 has been downloaded and installed on your computer.
- An Autodiscover record has been created in your domain’s DNS settings.
Set-up in Microsoft Outlook 2016:
- Open Microsoft Outlook 2016.
- Click ‘File’ > ‘Account Information’ > ‘+ Add Account’.
- Enter your name, the email address for your Microsoft Exchange 2019 account and your password.
- Click ‘Next’ and confirm the redirect request by clicking ‘Allow’.
- Complete the setup by clicking ‘Finish’.
- Click ‘OK’, close Outlook 2016 and restart the programme.
Problem-solving:
- If the automatic setup of the Microsoft Exchange 2019 account fails, check whether there is an Autodiscover entry in your domain’s DNS settings. For further information, see ‘Checking your domain’s Autodiscover settings’.
- If you have recently registered the domain or changed the DNS settings, it may take a while for the DNS settings to be updated. Please be patient in such cases.
