Migrating emails from centron Mail accounts to MS 365
For customers with centron Mail Basic and centron Mail Business mailboxes:
In this article, you will learn more about migrating emails from centron Mail Basic and centron Mail Business mailboxes (IMAP) to Microsoft 365.

Restrictions on imports

The maximum size of an email must not exceed 35 megabytes.

A maximum of 500,000 items can be transferred per user mailbox.

Only emails will be migrated; contacts, tasks, etc. will not be included.
Preparing for the migration
To transfer user data from centron mailboxes to Microsoft 365:

Open a programme that allows you to create comma-separated CSV files, e.g. Microsoft Excel.

Enter the following headings for each column in the first row: Email address, Username, Password.

Add a row containing the user details for each user mailbox.

Save the file in CSV format (delimiter: comma).
Carrying out the migration
Notes:
- The users to be imported must already have been created in Microsoft 365.
- Microsoft has changed the design of the Exchange Admin Centre since early 2022. The following step-by-step instructions refer to the menu structures and options in the classic view.
- Log in to your Microsoft 365 administrator account.
- Select the Admin icon in the left-hand menu. The Microsoft 365 Admin Centre will open.
- Select Exchange from the left-hand menu. Please note that you may need to expand the menu by clicking ‘Show all’.
- Click the ‘Classic Exchange Admin Centre’ button to access the correct menu structures and options for the following steps.
- Under ‘Recipients’, click on ‘Migration’.
- Click on the … button and select ‘Migration Endpoints’. The ‘Migration Endpoints’ window will open.
- Click the plus sign to create a new migration endpoint. The Migration Endpoint Wizard window will open.
- Select the IMAP migration endpoint and click ‘Next’.
- In the ‘IMAP server’ field, enter imap.centron.com and confirm the entry by clicking ‘Next’.
- In the ‘Migration Endpoint Name’ field, enter the desired name for the migration endpoint and click ‘New’.
- Close the ‘Migration Endpoints’ window.
- Click on the plus sign and select “Migration to Exchange Online”. The “New Migration Batch” window will open.
- Select “IMAP Migration” and upload your prepared CSV file.
- Complete your entry by clicking ‘Next’.
- Enter a name of your choice in the ‘Name of the new migration batch’ field and click ‘Next’.
- To start the migration, click ‘New’. You can now close the Exchange Admin Centre. The migration process will continue to run in the background.
You have migrated your emails from centron Mail Basic or centron Mail Business to Microsoft 365.
