Outlook 2019

This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to set up your email account in Microsoft Outlook 2019.

Required information

  • Email account; in our example, we are using hallo@centronhosting.de
  • Password for the email account
  • Incoming and outgoing mail servers
  • Mail server ports; you can find these in the instructions

Step 1

Open Microsoft Outlook 2019 and click on ‘File’ in the top-left corner to open the account information.

Step 2

To launch the setup wizard, click on ‘Add account’.

Step 3

Enter the email address you wish to set up. Now select ‘Advanced options’, tick the box next to ‘I want to set up my account manually’ and click ‘Connect’.

Step 4

Now select the ‘POP’ or ‘IMAP’ option. ‘IMAP’ is used by default.

Step 5

In the next window, start by entering your incoming and outgoing mail server details.

You will receive the name of your new server by email. It will normally be different from the mail server shown in the screenshots.

Next, under ‘Incoming email’, enter port 993 and select ‘SSL/TLS’ as the encryption method. Under ‘Outgoing email’, enter port 465 and select ‘SSL/TLS’ as the encryption method. You do not need to tick the box next to ‘Require secure password authentication (SPA)’. Then click ‘Next’.

Step 6

Now enter your mailbox password and complete the setup by clicking ‘Connect’.

Step 7

Your mailbox has now been successfully set up and can be used as normal.
