Create a mailbox

An email inbox, often referred to as an email account, serves much the same purpose as a traditional postbox: it receives incoming messages and stores them for the recipient.

The digital mailboxes are referred to as WebPanel email accounts. If an email address is only intended to forward messages, you can create an alias for this purpose. You also have the option of creating distribution lists and so-called ‘catch-all’ accounts.

Your options

  • Creating, managing and deleting email accounts
  • Creating or deleting email aliases
  • Creating and managing email lists (distribution lists)
  • Adding email domains, email pointers and catch-all accounts

Email accounts

Email accounts are used to receive and send emails.

Create an email account

  1. On the home page, select ‘Email accounts’
  2. Click ‘Create email account’ in the top right-hand corner
  3. Enter the desired name
  4. Select the domain using the drop-down menu
  5. Choose a secure password (one can also be generated)
    1. Click in the input field to view your entry
  6. Optionally, you can also provide the following details
    1. personal information
    2. an automatic reply, which is sent automatically to the sender upon receipt of an email (an expiry date can be set, e.g. for absence whilst on holiday)
    3. Forwarding (the original message is retained: ‘Forward as a copy’).
    4. Signature in text or HTML format
  7. Once you are satisfied with your details, click ‘Save’ in the bottom right-hand corner

If you add the first email account for your domain, all the necessary DNS records and settings will be configured automatically in the background.

Manage your email account

  1. On the home page, click on ‘Email accounts’
  2. Select the account you want
  3. You now have the following options
    1. Change your password
    2. Add personal details
    3. Create, edit or remove automatic replies
    4. Create, edit or remove mail forwarding rules
    5. Create, edit or remove signatures

In addition, under ‘Account Information’, you can see whether your account is activated, its size and how much of your allowance you have already used. You can also see the date of your last login.

Delete email account

  1. On the home page, click on ‘Email accounts’
  2. Select the account you want
  3. Now scroll right to the bottom
  4. In the bottom right-hand corner, you will find the ‘Delete’ button

Please note: Deleting the email account will also irrevocably delete all emails.

Email aliases

An email address set up as an email alias forwards emails without storing them on the mail server.

Create an email alias

  1. On the home page, select ‘Email aliases’
  2. Click ‘Create email alias’ in the top right-hand corner
  3. Enter the desired name
  4. Select the domain using the drop-down menu
  5. Enter the email address to which emails are to be forwarded
  6. Click ‘Save’ to confirm your details

Delete an email alias

  1. On the home page, click on ‘Email aliases’
  2. Select the alias you want
  3. On the right-hand side, you will find the ‘Delete’ button

Add a domain alias ("domain pointer")

A domain pointer is an alias for a domain.

Example: The mailbox hallo@domain.de already exists, and the domain domain2.de is defined as an alias for the domain domain.de. Emails sent to the email address hallo@domain.de or to hallo@domain2.de will now be delivered to the hallo@domain.de mailbox.

  1. On the home page, click on ‘Email accounts’
  2. Select the desired domain
  3. Use the drop-down menu to select the domain you wish to add as an alias
  4. Click on ‘Save’ and confirm your selection

Catch-all account

If you wish to receive every email sent to your domain, regardless of whether the email address exists, you have the option of setting up what is known as a ‘catch-all account’.

  1. On the home page, click on ‘Email Domains’
  2. Select the desired domain
  3. Use the drop-down menu to select the email account you wish to use as the catch-all account
  4. Click on ‘Update’ and confirm your selection
