Limits

Overview of the technical and functional limitations of the centron S3 Object Storage, including buckets, requests, object sizes, SSL certificates and known limitations.

Buckets​

  • Up to 100 buckets per account. To increase this limit, please contact support.

  • No support for centron tags or bucket tags.

  • The name of a bucket that is scheduled for deletion cannot be reused whilst the deletion process is ongoing (1 week or longer).

SSL certificates​

  • Cannot be secured with a custom wildcard SSL certificate that is already in use elsewhere in the account.

  • Wildcard SSL certificates do not match buckets if the bucket name contains a full stop.

Automated solutions​

  • Incomplete multi-part uploads that are more than 90 days old will be automatically deleted.

Enquiry limits​

  • 1,500 requests (per operation) per IP address per second for all buckets in an account.

  • 10 concurrent PUT or COPY requests for each individual object in a bucket.

Object and file size limits​

  • PUT requests must not exceed 5GB in size.

  • Each part of a multi-part upload must not exceed 5GB in size

  • The maximum total size of a multi-part upload is 5 TB.

  • Maximum payload size for PUT requests and individual parts of multi-part uploads via CDN: 8,100 KiB.

  • A maximum of 10 million objects per bucket is permitted.

File deletion​

  • Up to 9,999 files can be deleted at the same time using Control Panel.

Known issues​

Security Theory

Delete operations in Buckets do not include the correct IP address that carried out the operation.

Uploading files​

Uploading hundreds or thousands of files via a cloud platform can be unreliable. For this use case, you should use tools such as s3cmd.

API support​

The S3 API does not support list-objects-v2 pagination.

CDN subdomain certificates​

Silent failure when uploading certificates to the CDN during renewal. This may result in the CDN ceasing to serve assets via SSL as soon as the original certificate expires.
