VM Policies

Overview of ccloud³ VM policies: access model, SLA, password management, and guidelines on Tor relays and exit nodes.

ccloud³ VM access

ccloud³ VMs are completely unmanaged; centron has no direct access to user ccloud³ VMs. If you experience any issues with your server, you can open a support ticket to request assistance, but our support staff will still not be able to access your ccloud³ VMs directly.

ccloud³ VM Service Level Agreement (SLA)

centron guarantees a monthly availability of 99.5% for virtual machines with cloud GPUs. We will credit any lost time to your account at the hourly rate.

ccloud³ VM passwords

If you decide not to use SSH keys for authentication when creating a ccloud³ VM, you will need to set a root password.

If you lose or forget your root password, you can reset the root password for your ccloud³ VM via the Control Panel.

Gate relays

If you operate a Tor service, you are responsible for the sub-users who connect to it. There is no way to distinguish between misuse by a user and misuse by sub-users. Therefore, malicious activity by your sub-users will flag your account. This may result in us suspending your account and destroying your virtual servers.

Due to the risk to your account, we do not recommend running open services to which any user can connect. Although we do not restrict the software you choose to use, you are responsible for its use and for how openly accessible you make the service.

Gateway-exit node

We do not specifically prohibit Tor exit nodes, but as the account holder, you are responsible for all traffic passing through your ccloud³ VM (including any traffic that an exit node may generate). We prohibit certain types of traffic that typically pass through a Tor exit node.

If you are unable to prevent prohibited traffic such as torrents, spam, SSH probes, botnets and DDoS attacks, operating a Tor exit node may result in us suspending or terminating your account. We will notify you by email of any breach of our Terms of Service, and these issues must be resolved as soon as possible.
