Pay your bill

Find out how centron deals with late payments, what the consequences of late payment are, and how you can ensure a smooth settlement process.

Payment methods and due dates at centron

centron operates on a monthly billing cycle. Your account balance accrues over the course of the calendar month based on your resource usage. The balance is due on the first day of each month. If your usage exceeds a certain threshold, an interim invoice may also be issued.

Hinweis

If your account is new, your balance may instead become due when it exceeds your usage threshold. Usage thresholds are pre-set spending limits for new or unverified users; once reached, they trigger a charge to the account’s primary payment method. We automatically remove usage thresholds once an account has a reliable payment history.

There are two ways to pay for your resource usage:

  • You can make a manual payment at any time during the month using any valid payment method. This allows you to settle your monthly resource usage before it is due, pay off an outstanding balance, or make an advance payment. Advance payments allow you to pay in advance for future resource usage.

  • When your balance is due, we will first apply any advance payments, then automatically charge the remaining balance to the primary payment method on your account.

We currently accept payments by credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express), debit cards, third-party payment providers and direct debit.

Managing payment methods in centron

How to add, edit or remove payment methods from your centron account – including credit cards, debit cards and third-party providers.

Make a payment

You can make a manual payment on the billing page. Your current account balance is shown at the top of the page next to the payment button. The text on the button varies depending on whether your account is overdue or whether you are making an early payment.

Click on the payment button to go to the ‘Make a payment’ page. In the ‘Payment amount’ section, you can choose between an outstanding balance, estimated costs for the current billing period or a custom amount.

Once you have entered the amount you wish to pay, you can make the payment in one of two ways:

  • Saved payment methods: You can choose from any credit card, debit card or third-party provider you have already saved to your account. You can also add a new credit or debit card using the ‘Add card’ option in the drop-down menu. To use this option, select or add a card and click ‘Send payment’ to pay.

  • Payment via a third-party provider: You can make a one-off payment via a third-party provider such as PayPal, Google Pay or Apple Pay. To use this option, click on the third-party provider you wish to use. You will be redirected to that provider to complete the transaction.

When using PayPal, your account balance will be updated once your payment has been processed, which may take several hours due to PayPal’s processing times. PayPal sometimes holds payments for up to 72 hours. This means that PayPal has received your money but has not yet passed it on to us. Your payment will be applied as soon as PayPal releases it.

Late payments

centron operates on a monthly billing cycle. On the first day of each month, accounts are invoiced and debited for resource usage in the previous month, with any promotional code credits and taxes applied where applicable.

Accounts in arrears and suspended accounts

When we debit the accounts on the first of the month, we proceed in the following order:

  1. Application of PayPal prepayments to the balance.

  2. If there is a balance remaining after any advance payments have been made, we will charge the standard credit or debit card linked to the account.

  3. If the default payment method fails, we will attempt to charge other payment methods on file.

  4. Overdue accounts: If there are no valid payment methods available to cover an outstanding balance, the account will be classified as overdue, whereupon the following measures will be taken:

    • We will notify the account holder by email.

    • We will place the account on ‘hold’, which will prevent new resources from being created.

    • The account’s existing resources will continue to be available.

    • In certain cases, it is not possible to access the account’s servers.

    • To settle an overdue account, the account holder must log in and pay the balance.

  5. ** Suspended accounts**: If an account remains in arrears, the account holder will be notified by email and the account will be suspended, whereupon the following measures will be taken:

    • We will deactivate the account’s resources.

    • We redirect logins to the payment page.

    • To reactivate a suspended account, the account holder must log in and settle the balance.

If an account remains suspended for 14 days, all of the account’s resources will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

Help with payments

Can I get a refund?

centron does not offer refunds. Should any special circumstances arise, please contact support.

Can I get an extension to the due date of my invoice?

centron does not offer payment extensions. We will debit your account on the first day of the month. If your account falls into arrears, it will be suspended. If you need more time to pay your bill, please contact support.

My credit card has expired or has been declined, so my payment has failed. How can I prevent my account from being blocked?

Prevent your account from being suspended by making a payment. You can add a new payment method, update an existing one, or pay via PayPal.

If there is an outstanding balance on the account, your updated card will be debited within 24 hours. Otherwise, the amount will be debited at the end of the monthly billing cycle.

Why was my credit card declined?

There are many reasons why a card might be declined; however, banks do not usually pass this information on to centron. It is also not unusual for a card to work in some situations but not in others. We recommend that you contact your bank. They should be able to provide you with more information about the declined payment and the reason for it.
