Create an SSL certificate
Create and manage SSL and S/MIME certificates centrally via the centron SSL Manager (ccenter). Step-by-step guide for domain and email certificates.

SSL Manager
You can manage your SSL certificates yourself via ccenter and also order new SSL certificates. The following guide will help you find the information you need and place your orders correctly.
Please note: A domain or email address associated with an SSL certificate cannot be changed, added or removed at a later date. However, an SSL certificate can be revoked and declared invalid before its expiry date (its validity is checked each time it is accessed). If you wish to change the domain(s) or email address associated with your SSL certificate, a new certificate will need to be issued.

Choosing the right SSL certificate

Log in to ccenter using your email address.

Select ‘SSL Manager’ from the menu on the left.
→ There you will see your existing SSL certificatesa. If you wish to renew an existing SSL certificate, select the ‘Renew’ button on the right-hand side of the details view.
b. From this point onwards, the renewal process proceeds in the same way as a normal order. Check the pre-filled details and make sure you select the correct validation type.

To order a new SSL certificate, click on the green button in the top right-hand corner of the overview.

Leave the certificate type set to “Domain”.

Select the desired certificate type as the product.

Enter the domain for which you wish to issue the SSL certificate.
A Positive SSL certificate always includes the domain itself and the ‘www’ subdomain of that domain (e.g. domain.de and
www.domain.de). -
To enhance the security of this type of SSL certificate, you can adjust the length of the private key to 4096 bytes. However, the default setting of 2048 bytes is usually sufficient.

Decide on a validation type and select it. → This article will help you choose the right validation type and describes the process for each type in detail.
If you select ‘Email’ as the validation method, you must also select an email address.

Click the blue button on the right to load your saved customer details.
Alternatively, you can enter the required contact details yourself.

In the final step, check all your details once more and then click on ‘Order’ at the bottom.
Ordering an S/MIME certificate (email address)

Log in to ccenter using your email address.

Select ‘SSL Manager’ from the menu on the left.
→ There you will see your existing SSL certificates.a. If you wish to renew an existing SSL certificate, select the ‘Renew’ button on the right-hand side of the details view.
b. From this point onwards, the renewal process is the same as for a standard order. Check the pre-filled details and ensure you select the correct validation type.

To order a new SSL certificate, click on the green button in the top right-hand corner of the overview.

Select ‘SMIME’ as the certificate type.

Enter the email address for which the S/MIME certificate is to be issued.

Set a password. Please note the password policy displayed on the right.

To increase the security of the SSL certificate, you can set the length of the private key to 4096 bytes. However, the default setting of 2048 bytes is usually sufficient.
