VM Restore
To create new centron and ccloud³ VMs from cBacks and restore existing ccloud³ VMs from cBacks, you can follow these steps:
Prerequisites
- Access to the centron Control Panel
Create new ccloud³ VMs from cBacks
About the Control Panel:
In Control Panel, click on the name of the ccloud³ VM containing the backup you wish to use. Now click on "cBacks".
In the "cBacks of the ccloud³ VM" section, open the "More" menu for the cBacks that you wish to use. Select "Create ccloud³ VM".
This will take you to the creation screen for the ccloud³ VM, with the selected backup as the image. Configure the remaining options for the ccloud³ VM.
Please note: To maintain data integrity, you must select a hard disk size that is equal to or larger than that of the original ccloud³ VM from which the backup was created.
Finally, click "Create" to create a ccloud³ VM based on the selected backup.
Data transmission:
Once the new ccloud³ VM has been created, you can copy files between the original and the new ccloud³ VM using file transfer tools such as scp or rsync.
Restoring ccloud³ VMs from cBacks
About automation:
You can restore a ccloud³ VM from a backup by using the appropriate command or by sending a request to the ccloud³ VM action endpoint and setting the restore field to the ID of the backup image.
About the Control Panel:
- To restore a ccloud³ VM to one of your cBacks VMs, click on the name of the ccloud³ VM in the Control Panel and then click on "cBacks". In the ‘cBacks of the ccloud³ VM’ section, open the ‘More’ menu of the cBacks from which you wish to restore. Select ‘Restore ccloud³ VM’ here.
- As restoring a cBacks to your ccloud³ VM will delete existing data on that ccloud³ VM, confirmation is required to complete the process. Confirm the restoration in the “Restore ccloud³ VM” window.
- Restoring from a backup will shut down your ccloud³ VM during the restoration process. Once the restoration is complete, the VM will automatically restart*.*
